Life of Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo born 5 February 1985 is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a forward for Real Madrid while serving as captain of the Portuguese national team. Ronaldo joined his current club on 26 June 2009 in a transfer deal worth 80 million pounds, making him the most expensive player in footballing history. As a matter of fact Ronaldo holds the distinction of being the first player to win the FIFA Puskás Award, an honor handed by FIFA to the best goal of the year. In the year 2008 he was awarded Fifa’s best player. Also on the same year after he won the Champions League he was named player of the tournament. In addition to the achievements in Manchester United he became Manchester United's first Ballon d'Or winner in 40 years. Despite his success in Manchester United he was the clubs first ever Portuguese player. He was called up for Euro 2004 and was named in the team of the tournament despite the fact, finishing with only two goals. Cristiano Ronaldo also represented Portugal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Ronaldo scored eight goals in Portugal's UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying although he finished with just one goal in the tournament as his team was eliminated in the quarter-finals. Ronaldo failed to make an impact in the World Cup 2010 and his team was ultimately eliminated by Spain in the Round of 16. Cristiano Ronaldo was appointed as Portugal’s captain on the year 2008.
